If you are having Bluetooth connection issues, try these fixes in order:
- Go to your phone's settings menu and make sure Bluetooth is turned on
- Make sure you are in range (10 ft/3 m) of the scanner
- Go to your phone's Bluetooth menu, find your scanner, and select "Forget this device"
- Turn Bluetooth OFF then ON in your phone's settings
- If all of the above fail to correct the problem, reset your scanner by unplugging it from the wall, counting to ten, and plugging it back in again
- Reboot your phone
- Delete your app and reinstall
*Additional note: If you have an Android device, make sure you have location services enabled (and not on the battery saving setting) for the Naked App. Android has made location services required after Android 6.0. You'll need location services enabled in order to connect to your scanner.
If none of these tips help, please reach out to Customer Experience for assistance.
There could be a number of reasons that your scan didn't process completely. Hopefully, the app notified you of the reason. If not, here's a quick guide:
- If your scan failed during "Checking your scan..." it's most likely because you move,
- If it failed during "Processing..." it's probably due to the lighting conditions or your clothing
- If it failed during "Uploading..." it is probably because your Wifi upload speed is very slow
- If you are experiencing repeated scan failures, please let us know so we can try to help
Have you checked your scanning pose? Pose is extremely important to enabling accurate and consistent body fat % and measurements. Watch this video for a quick tutorial on the pose.
A couple things to remember:
1) Hair up and off the neck – no ponytails!
2) Clothes should be tight-fitting and minimal. Scanning naked is perfectly okay, as our name would suggest!
3) Lock out your arms. If you have larger lats or your arms tend to touch your sides, you can move them a little further from the body.
4) Look straight ahead and stand up straight.
5) Are you flexing? We recommend keeping muscles relaxed and breathing normally during the scan.
6) Are you scanning at the same time of day? For the most consistent measurements, you should scan at the same time each day wearing similar clothing.
Pro tip: Line the outer edges of your feet with the edges of the scale to ensure your legs are the same distance apart every time.

Compared to bioimpedance scales and many other commercial devices (inBody, WiFi scales, dunk tank, etc), Naked tends to show higher body fat percentage values. This is because we've normed to DEXA, which tends to be higher than commercially available body fat estimations.
That said, Naked is not like a DEXA – our scanner's sensors do not penetrate the skin, and our algorithms extract your measurements directly from your body model, so intentionally different poses will certainly give different results. The goal should be to do as close to identical poses as possible in order to maximize consistency. Our biggest tip is to get some practice in!

A couple additional things to remember:
1) Hair up and off the neck – no ponytails!
2) Clothes should be tight-fitting and minimal. Even changing from underwear to shorts can affect your measurements.
6) How's your lighting? Poor lighting could be impacting your reading. Do you have any strange artifacts on your scan, especially around your neck? We recommend not placing the scanner facing or in front of windows that cannot be covered with opaque shades or curtains.
Pro tip: Line the outer edges of your feet with the edges of the scale to ensure your legs are the same distance apart every time.

Naked doesn't have a power button. To reset your scanner, simply pull the power cord out of the electrical socket it's plugged into, count to 10, and plug it back in.
We hide your measurements and metrics on scans when they do not meet our confidence standards (i.e. when they’re not good enough to show you). There are many reasons why a scan could have low-confidence metrics:
- doing a funny pose
- wearing loose clothing
- moving during the scan
- having hair on your neck
- bright lighting in the room
However, it is possible that a user could do everything “right” on every scan and still not see measurements. This usually occurs when the user has a body feature that isn’t yet included in our computer vision algorithms. Some of these features include loose skin folds, very large necks, very broad shoulders, amputated or prosthetic limbs.
If this is happening to you, please get in touch with our Customer Experience team so that we can change your account to show measurements from every scan. Additionally, your input will help us make our algorithms more effective and accurate.
Body fat percentage is a unique calculation based off of your height, weight, gender, and body circumferences. If someone scanned on your account, their body fat has been calculated using your stats and their circumferences. Instead of scanning someone else in your account, have them download the app and make their own account (it takes 2 mins) — that way they can keep their scan, too!
While we have previously expressed the intent for a 6 user limit, but we have no intention at the moment to enforce that limit in the near future. We want to encourage as many people as possible to try Naked. Happy scanning!
For additional users, you have a couple different options. You can either have someone download the app and create an account on their own phone or create an account on the same phone by going to More and Settings in the Naked app > Account Info > Scrolling down to the bottom where it says Log Out. After they create an account, they will then be able to take a scan by connecting to the scanner via Bluetooth.
